Why We Fundraise
Together, Open Controls™ and Acceletrex Corporation™ are proud to stand with CHOC in the fight against childhood illness. Our partnership is built on a shared belief: every child deserves the chance at a healthy tomorrow.
This mission is deeply personal for both of our organizations. We fundraise in honor of Ronald Royce Cushing and Jayne Marie Piliero, two bright, joyful children whose lives were cut short by leukemia.
Ronald, born in 1999, was smart, musical, and eager to go to college. His family remembers his contagious laugh and the light he brought to every room. At just 17 years old, after a two-year battle, he lost his life to leukemia.
Jayne, born in 1961, was a kind, joyful child who dreamed big and loved deeply. In 1972, when she was only 10 years old, leukemia ended her life at a time when treatment options were heartbreakingly limited.
Their stories are reminders of why we must act. Today, thanks to advancements in research and care, children battling leukemia have far greater odds. But there is still so much more to do.
